Rajma

Ingredients:

1 cup white Rajma (soaked overnight)
2 medium onions (paste)
3 tomatoes (puree)
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilly powder
2 tsp dhaniya powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp jeera
1 small cinnamom stick

Method:

1) Put soaked rajma in pressure cooker, add adequate water, cinnamom stick and let it cook for 10 whistles. ( i add hing too - it's optional)

2) In a pan, add oil. When it heats up, add jeera and let it crackle.

3) Now add onion paste and a pinch of salt and cook it till it becomes brown (not burnt).

4) Add ginger galic paste and let it cook for a min. you can add very little water if you think that the paste is getting burnt.

5) Now add red chilly powder and dhaniya powder. Let it cook for a min and add very little water. This paste should be brown in colour.

6) Now add pureed tomatoes and let it cook till the oil leaves. ( I cook in very little oil, so no oil leaving takes place :))

7) Add this masala to cooked rajma in pressure cooker, add salt and pressure cook on sim for 1-2 whistles so that everything mixes well together.

8) Rajma is ready :)
