Ingredients:
1 cup white Rajma (soaked overnight)
2 medium onions (paste)
3 tomatoes (puree)
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilly powder
2 tsp dhaniya powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp jeera
1 small cinnamom stick
Method:
1) Put soaked rajma in pressure cooker, add adequate water, cinnamom stick and let it cook for 10 whistles. ( i add hing too - it's optional)
2) In a pan, add oil. When it heats up, add jeera and let it crackle.
3) Now add onion paste and a pinch of salt and cook it till it becomes brown (not burnt).
4) Add ginger galic paste and let it cook for a min. you can add very little water if you think that the paste is getting burnt.
5) Now add red chilly powder and dhaniya powder. Let it cook for a min and add very little water. This paste should be brown in colour.
6) Now add pureed tomatoes and let it cook till the oil leaves. ( I cook in very little oil, so no oil leaving takes place :))
7) Add this masala to cooked rajma in pressure cooker, add salt and pressure cook on sim for 1-2 whistles so that everything mixes well together.
8) Rajma is ready :)

Low Calorie Dal Makhni
Ingredients
1 & 1/2 cup of rajma and whole black dal (soaked overnight)
2 medium onions (finely chopped)
4 tomatoes (pureed with red chilli powder)
1 tsp ginger (finely chopped)
6-7 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
1 green chilly (finely chopped)
1 pinch of hing
1 tejpatta
1 stick of cinnamom
1/2 tsp red chilly powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp jeera powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp curd
1 tbsp milk
salt to taste
For garnishing
Slivers of ginger
Cream (very optional)
1) Put soaked rajma and whole black dal in pressure cooker with adequate water. Add tejpatta, cinammom stick, hing, onions, ginger and garlic. Let it cook for 10-15 whistles. (plz put water accordingly)
2) The dal should be soft and mushy. Now add tomatoes which have been pureed with 1/2 tsp red chilly powder. Add green chillies and all the masalas except garam masala.
3) Let it simmer till all the ingredients are nicely mixed and the dal is creamy in texture. Keep adjusting water accordingly.
4) When it's done, add garam masala powder.
5) Mix curd and milk in one small bowl. Pour little of it in the dal and mix, again pour and mix till you finish the curd and milk. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.
6) Dal makhni is ready to serve! Add slivers of ginger for garnishing. If you want you can add cream too....but it's optional!
